Gluten-Free Cheez-Its Are Finally Coming to Stores—But There’s a Catch

Cheez-Its are the perfect snack. I say this proudly as someone who definitely prefers salty snacks to sweet ones. The fact that Cheez-Its combine so much crunchy, salty and cheesy deliciousness into one little square is an absolute delight.
But maybe what I love the most about Cheez-Its is the brand’s willingness to think beyond the cracker. This was evident when it partnered with Taco Bell for a tasty (and too short-lived!) Cheez-It Mexican pizza and Cheez-It Crunchwrap. And the brand also launched the excellent Cheez-It pizzas last month, which quickly became my new favorite frozen pizza.
There is one Cheez-It variety that fans have been asking for—nay, begging for—for years: a gluten-free Cheez-It. Even Oreos have a gluten-free version, and you’ve been able to get a gluten-free pizza crust at Domino’s for over a decade. So gluten-free Cheez-Its have been a long time coming.

Before you grab your car keys to head to the store, I have to share some bittersweet news. According to Cheez-It, the brand has been working on perfecting the recipe for years, and it will hit shelves sometime in 2026. Sure, that certainly feels far away, but we’re already halfway through 2025. Stay strong!
What stores will be selling the gluten-free Cheez-Its?
This is another thing we’re going to have to be patient about. Cheez-It has not specified which retailers will be selling the new gluten-free version yet and said that shoppers should “stay tuned” for more information. While I can’t make any promises, I think it’s probably a safe bet to assume that most major grocery retailers will carry the gluten-free Cheez-It. (If I’m wrong, yell at me in 2026!)
Will the gluten-free Cheez-Its be safe for people with Celiac disease?
Yes. In order for gluten-free food to be safe for people with Celiac disease, it cannot risk cross-contamination with gluten during production. And the new gluten-free Cheez-Its are a GFCO (Gluten-Free Certified Organization) certified product.
