I guess I need to move to Colorado!

This Is The Most Popular French Fry in Your State

National French Fry Day was on Friday, July 11th. But in my house, it’s always National French Fry Day. I’m a big fan of the potato in any form, and when it comes to fries, I don’t mess around.
Everyone has very specific french fry preferences. I love a very crispy exterior with a soft interior. One of my friends loves when they’re thick and a little soggy. Dining out is the ultimate compromise in our friendship, as these are polar opposite preferences.
Since I like crispy fries, I am partial to the waffle and crinkle-cut variety. There’s more surface area to get crispy this way! And nothing gets me excited quite like a nice plate of beer-battered fries. That coating lends so much crunch to the fry.
If you’re wondering how your french fry preferences stack up amongst your fellow Americans, then I’m pleased to report that I possess that information. You’re welcome!
What is the most popular french fry by state?
McCain Foods and Talker Research conducted this very important study in honor of National French Fry Day. They surveyed 5,000 American adults to get the skinny on our nation’s fry habits.
“Fries are universally loved, but there’s still plenty of debate when it comes to favorites,” said Tracy Hostetler, vice president of marketing North America potatoes at McCain Foods. “From crinkle-cut and curly, to waffle and seasoned fries, everyone has their go-to style.”
The most popular french fry style is straight and seasoned, with a whopping 28 states preferring that style. I am pleased to see my home state of Illinois is in the crinkle-cut camp alongside Kentucky, Nebraska and Pennsylvania.
Shoestring french fries reigned supreme in Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire and Texas. I actually thought curly fries might be more popular—they were still the top pick in Alaska, Connecticut, Kansas and Oklahoma. And exactly one state had waffle fries as their top choice: Colorado. I have never been before, but Colorado just moved to the top of my travel bucket list. Looks like I need to plan a road trip soon.
